Special Occasion Speech Assignment
4-7 minute speech
1. Read about the different kinds of special occasion speeches in the book and pick one type for your speech, e.g., eulogy, inauguration speech, speech of introduction, etc. Construct a context for your speech–use your imagination.
2. Use the special occasion speech outline as a flexible guide for constructing your speech–you can mix and match to make it flow. Strict adherence to a specific outline is not what is needed for the special occasion speech (as opposed to the informative speech).
3. The (1) nature of the occasion and (2) audience are two keys to consider for the special occasion speech.
This should be a high quality, developed speech. Show me that you can construct a speech without having a pre-specified format for the outline and evaluation.
